Me Julie Mousseau (1994)

Me Julie Mousseau is the 157th person and the 8th woman to hold this position in the history of the section. The theme she has chosen for her term of office is “Let’s Build the Future”. She will oversee the Bar of Montreal’s activities with vision and leadership over the coming year.

Professional background

A graduate of the University of Montreal Law Faculty, Mtre. Mousseau was admitted to the Bar of Quebec in 1994. She began her career as a lawyer in private practice with the firm Malo Dansereau. In 2002 she joined the Tax Litigation Directorate with Justice Canada, where she still works 20 years later.

The new bâtonnière is no stranger to the Bar of Montreal, on the contrary! She has been involved in it for close to 25 years. She has been a member or chair of several committees, including those overseeing the Salon VISEZ DROIT, Member Relations and Contests. In 2016 she was awarded the Pierre-Fournier prize for her extensive involvement in the Bar of Montreal.

In 2017, she became a member of the Bar of Montreal Council. She was elected Treasurer two years later and became Senior Councillor in 2021. She therefore begins her term of office at the head of the Council better equipped than ever.
