Referral Service

Need a lawyer ?

The Barreau de Montréal provides a referral service to help individuals find a lawyer practicing on the Island of Montreal in order to get legal advice. Only voluntarily registered lawyers participate in this service.

How it works:

1. To make a request : complete the request form with your contact information and the nature of your problem or contact the Service by telephone.
Only one form will be processed per file: additional referral requests must be submitted by e-mail only.

2. Cost and Payment : the initial one-hour consultation is billed at $60 (plus taxes, if applicable). Any additional work will be billed at the lawyer’s regular rate. Consultation fees must be paid directly to the lawyer or via a Legal Aid mandate if you are eligible.

3. Communication of information : the Service provides you with the necessary information to contact the lawyer. The selected lawyer receives your name and the nature of your request by email.

4. Additional services : any additional services must be agreed upon directly with the lawyer, including the extent of the mandate and the fees.
