{"id":1445,"date":"2014-01-27T20:06:55","date_gmt":"2014-01-27T20:06:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/barreau.stagingminimalmtl.com\/history-bar-montreal\/"},"modified":"2014-01-27T20:06:55","modified_gmt":"2014-01-27T20:06:55","slug":"history-bar-montreal","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.barreaudemontreal.qc.ca\/en\/history-bar-montreal\/","title":{"rendered":"History of the Bar of Montreal"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/p>\n<div>In 1989, for the 140th anniversary of the Bar of Montreal, the Council of the Bar of Montreal, in conjunction with Les \u00c9ditions Yvon Blais, published a book by the Honourable G.-\u00c9douard Rinfret entitled <strong><em>L\u2019Histoire du Barreau de Montr\u00e9al<\/em><\/strong>.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>In the summer of 1997, the <em>ad hoc <\/em>committee organizing the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Bar of Montreal decided to update the book and entrusted Mtre Gabriel Lapointe, Q.C. and Mtre Doris Larriv\u00e9e with the task. The launching of the new revised, corrected and expanded edition took place on September 9, 1999, during the <em>Journ\u00e9e du Barreau<\/em>, as part of the 150th anniversary closing ceremonies.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>This highly interesting book recounts the history of the Bar of Montreal. It contains an incredible number of amusing and telling anecdotes about members of the Bar and the Bench. It has proven to be a valuable reference because it offers a chronological account of the events that have marked the history of the Bar of Montreal. It also contains a number of historical documents and several lists, including one of the B\u00e2tonniers of Montreal and Qu\u00e9bec and the presidents of various associations.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":77,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_editorskit_title_hidden":false,"_editorskit_reading_time":0,"_editorskit_is_block_options_detached":false,"_editorskit_block_options_position":"{}","inline_featured_image":false,"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-1445","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
