images/Photos/MedaillesMerites/MPROULXAdmitted to the Bar of Quebec in 1963, Michel Proulx was always considered by his peers to be one of the country’s best criminal lawyers.

For more than 20 years he taught criminal procedure and the law of criminal evidence at the Faculty of Law of McGill University, in addition to serving as defence lawyer and counsel for parties appearing before a number of investigative commissions.

Named to the Québec Court of Appeal of Québec in 1989, many of his decisions constitute a reference for all of the country’s courts.  He sat on the Court of Appeal for 15 years, during which he established service for managing criminal and penal records that would greatly improve the efficiency of the judicial system.

In 2006, he received the Prix de la Justice du Québec, in honour of his devotion to improving and promoting justice in Québec.  Based on his remarkable career and for having devoted his life to improving the justice system, the Honourable Michel Proulx was, for the members of the Council, an undisputed candidate for this award.

This tribute to the late Honourable Michel Proulx was given by the Honorable Pierre A. Michaud, Q.C.,  Mrs. Brenda Kosky-Proulx received the Medal from Bâtonnier Ouimet on behalf of her late husband.
