Looking for a job in 2016

The job market in 2016 is evolving quickly: technological change, intergenerational conflict, recognition of competencies, adapting to change and a shortage of qualified replacements are all factors affecting the job market.

The purpose of this lecture is to inform beginning lawyers and sensitize them to the reality of the current job market by providing them with all the essential tools for finding work.

Experience can’t be bought! Danielle Montpetit will give participants the benefit of her 33 years of experience in legal recruitment in order to inform and coach them in their job search.

The lecture will cover such subjects as how to prepare a CV and the various components of the job search process, including research, sending out CVs, preparing for an interview, how to dress, body language, references, job offers, starting a job and having career goals.

As an introduction, Mtre Catherine Ouimet, Executive Director of the Young Bar Association of Montreal, will give a short presentation on the Report on the employment situation among young lawyers in Quebec, along with certain statistics and recommendations.

Cocktails:

At the end of the activity, participants will be invited to stay for cocktails and talk to members of the Mentoring Program Committee and recruitment advisors from Montpetit Group.

*Training by a recognized provider for the purposes of mandatory continuing education – 2 hours.
