Program :

The Court of Quebec has set up case management and facilitation in criminal and penal matters out of concern for efficiency and the sound administration of justice.

This training activity will raise your awareness and provide greater understanding about the rules of practice concerning these two important processes in the Criminal and Penal Division at the Montreal Courthouse.

The Honourable Élizabeth Corte, Chief Judge of the Court of Quebec, will give the opening address.

A panel composed of:

  • The Honourable Lori Renée Weitzman, Judge of the Court of Quebec,
  • The Honourable Pierre E. Labelle, Associate Coordinating Judge of the Criminal and Penal Division of the Court of Quebec,
  • Mtre Gaétan Bourassa, defence counsel, and
  • Mtre Éric Poudrier, Prosecutor, Criminal and Penal Prosecutions,

will present the rules of practice for case management and facilitation, the legal grounds, the ethical issues and first-hand experiences.

Prosecutors and defence lawyers in the audience will then be invited to take the floor and make comments and suggestions.
